Terras rápidas es un proyecto sonoro sobre el aceleracionismo del hypercapitalismo en la ciudad de Oporto en el 2019.

Un proyecto que quiere reflexionar, a través del procesado de grabaciones de campo de la maquinaria de construcción que inundaban la ciudad, sobre el cambio de ritmos vitales que soportaba la población local.

Oporto es una ciudad que en los últimos años ha sufrido y está sufriendo una transformación debido principalmente al auge del turismo. En el último año, según datos oficiales en Oporto viven 214.000 personas y reciben 1,6 millones de turistas al año. Esta presión turística está provocando un cambio de identidad de la ciudad y otros problemas vinculados con la sobrecarga en los servicios.

Otro de los cambios más visibles es la arquitectura del centro de la ciudad, miles de casas antiguas están siendo reformadas dentro del plan Porto 2020 sobretodo enfocadas a ser alojamiento turístico o viviendas de alta calidad y renta, lo que provoca la gentrificación de estos barrios, ahuyentando a los vecinos y pequeños negocios para convertirlos en espacios turísticos.

La idea detrás de Terras Rápidas es servir como una cápsula sonora de ese momento.

Terras rápidas is a sound project about the acceleration of hypercapitalism in the city of Porto in 2019.

A project that wants to reflect, through the processing of field recordings of the construction machinery that flooded the city, on the change of vital rhythms that the local population was supporting.

Porto is a city that in recent years has suffered and is suffering a transformation mainly due to the boom in tourism. In the last year, according to official data, 214,000 people lived in Porto and received 1.6 million tourists a year. This tourist pressure is causing a change in the city's identity and other problems linked to the overload of services.

Another of the most visible changes is the architecture of the city centre, thousands of old houses are being refurbished within the Porto 2020 plan mainly focused on being tourist accommodation or high quality and rental housing, which causes the gentrification of these neighbourhoods, driving away neighbours and small businesses to turn them into tourist spaces.

The idea behind Terras Rapidas is to serve as a sound capsule of that moment.
